Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre: Gulliver’s Travels at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center
The Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) is issuing a call for Antelope Valley youth to audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Gulliver’s Travels. Auditions will be held one day only, on Monday, April 9 at 4 p.m., at the LPAC.
MCT will cast approximately 50 - 60 local children to perform in the show, as well as serve as Assistant Directors. Students in kindergarten through grade 12 are encouraged to audition; no advance preparation is necessary. Rehearsals will be held throughout the week, with performances in both the morning and evening on Friday, April 13. The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props, and makeup.
MCT’s version of Gulliver’s Travels begins when brave explorer Gulliver finds himself lost in space with his ship tragically wrecked, his trusty computer JCN on the fritz, and nothing but an Invisible Force to guide him. While transporting from world to world, under the control of the Maniacal Scientist of Lapunta, Gulliver encounters fighting aliens, arrogant Horse Leaders of the foolish Yahoos, larger-than-life royalty (in more ways than one), and even robots – all of whom need just as much help from Gulliver as Gulliver needs from them.
MCT Tour Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week for approximately four to five hours each evening at the LPAC. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. Cast members scheduled for the full hours of rehearsal time will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner, or a snack and water.
On April 9, children auditioning and their accompanying chaperone (one per child) should arrive at the LPAC’s rear entrance by 3:45 p.m. and plan to stay until 6 p.m. Selected cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition.
There will be two performances for Gulliver’s Travels on Friday, April 13, at 11 a.m. (school show) and 7 p.m. (public show) at the LPAC. The students in the cast will be called for dress rehearsal before the performances that day. All cast members must be available for both scheduled performances.
