Next Lookin' Good Lancaster Coming Soon!

Rain and snow couldn't stop the enthusiasm of residents and volunteers participating in the first of this year's four Lookin' Good Lancaster events. They pitched in despite frozen fingers, leaving the neighborhood around Piute Middle School cleaner, brighter and more beautiful than ever.

Residents are encouraged to become neighborhood coordinators by nominating their neighborhood. Neighborhood coordinators work with the City and with their neighbors to spearhead a Lookin' Good Lancaster event in their neighborhood.

City resources can provide tools, equipment, even trees and other landscaping materials. Waste Management provides access to large trash containers for neighborhoods looking to do some summer cleaning. In partnership with the City and Waste Management, neighborhood coordinators can propose such projects as creating tree lined streets, picking up litter, removing graffiti, beautifying school sites and more. The City can even work with volunteers to add new landscaping along curbs as long as property owners agree to maintain the new greenery.

Volunteers from around the City come together on the day of the event to work alongside neighborhood residents. "The City is looking for community groups who want to roll up their shirt sleeves and help us make Lancaster more attractive," said Lancaster Director of Public Works Randy Williams, "If you are a service club, school or church group or neighborhood organization with a community beautification project you would like to do, let the city know and we'll see how we can help."
