The Lancaster Sheriff's Station looks forward to accepting your online report. Not all crimes and incidents can be reported online and this service is not intended to discourage you from requesting a response to your home or business to file a report. Call Lancaster Sheriff's Station at (661) 948-8466, if the incident you wish to report does not meet the criteria for online reporting, or if you prefer a Community Services Officer or Deputy Sheriff respond to your home or business in the City of Lancaster .

The following conditions must be met to file an online report:

  • You must have a valid email address (a copy of the report, after review and acceptance, with the case number will be sent to your email address)
  • The incident occurred within the Lancaster city limits
  • You do not know the identity of the suspect who committed the offense
  • The total amount of the loss or damage does not exceed $5,000

If these conditions are met, the following types of reports can be filed online:

  • Lost Property (cell phones, purses, wallets, jewelry, etc.)
  • Harassing Telephone Calls (annoying, obscene, immediate hang ups, threatening calls)
  • Vandalism (intentional destruction or defacing property, including graffiti)
  • Theft (property that is stolen). The following types of Theft reports are accepted online:
    • Shoplifting
    • Theft from a building or residence, unless force was used to gain entry
    • Theft from an unlocked vehicle
    • Theft of vehicle parts or accessories
    • Theft from a yard or open space
    • Theft from a coin operated machine

You must be able to provide the full name, address, birth date, and telephone numbers for the victim and yourself, if you are assisting someone else file this report or filing a report on behalf of a business.

If property was stolen or lost, be prepared to provide a detailed description of the property, including brand names, model numbers and serial numbers, if known.

If the crime involves theft from, or vandalism to a vehicle be prepared to provide the vehicle make, model, license number or VIN number (which can be found on the vehicle registration)

Penal Code section 148.5. (a) Every person who reports to any peace officer listed in Section 830.1 or 830.2, or subdivision (a) of Section 830.33, district attorney, or deputy district attorney that a felony or misdemeanor has been committed, knowing the report to be false, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
