Every fall through the UNITE (Uniting Neighbors in a Team Effort) Program a neighborhood in Lancaster is selected and residents are surveyed to understand the neighborhood’s priorities from a residents perspective. The City’s Neighborhood Vitalization Commission, Safer Stronger Neighborhoods committee, and local non-profit organizations work together to create programs that will address those needs and make a lasting impression in the neighborhood. Past UNITE programs have helped improve public safety, brought neighbors together and helped inform people about the services offered throughout the community. Neighborhoods that have benefitted from the UNITE program include: Joshua, El Dorado, Monte Vista, Downtown Lancaster, Mariposa and the Trend Tract neighborhood.
