Bruce Hornsby

An intimate solo concert

Bruce Hornsby

The ever-versatile Bruce Hornsby is a singer, pianist, accordion player, and songwriter. Known for the spontaneity and creativity of his live performances, Hornsby draws frequently from classical, jazz, bluegrass, folk, Motown, rock, blues, and jam band musical traditions with his songwriting and the seamless improvisations. He has avoided even planning set lists for his shows, preferring to choose songs on the spot based mainly on audience requests. His commercial stock soared early on, when "The Way It Is"--the title track of Bruce Hornsby and the Range's 1986 debut album--became the most-played song on American radio in 1987. "The Way It Is" and such subsequent hits as "Mandolin Rain" and "Every Little Kiss," established Hornsby as popular pop act, and reflect the vibrant temperament and true stylistic diversity with which he approaches his craft.
