Disabled Stakeholders Workshop (Master Plan for Trails and Bikeways)

The City's Master Plan for Trails and Bikeways team would like to meet with its disabled stakeholders, including local organizations and senior groups, those who are wheelchair bound, have sight or hearing impairments, and others.  A Disabled Stakeholders workshop will be held Monday, November 1st, from 2 to 4 p.m. at City Hall.

The workshop will help the Master Plan team understand the challenges faced when using non-motorized modes of transportation in the City of Lancaster.  The workshop will be used to identify barriers to disabled travel, where there are a lack of sidewalks or curb ramps, inaccessible bus stops, difficult street crossings, and which specific locations need improvement.

The residents involved in the General Plan 2030 visioning workshops talked about their desire for paths, trails and greenways that would connect their neighborhoods to recreation and shopping areas.  The City is looking to prepare a plan which will complete the sidewalk networks in order to connect residents to parks, schools, workplaces, shopping and transit.

"The City is excited to be taking its next step toward fulfilling the communities' vision for active living," said Mayor R. Rex Parris.

The Master Plan for Trails and Bikeways team needs the communities' input to be able to create walkable, bikeable neighborhoods, connect trails, and provide abundant choices for a healthy, active lifestyle.  The information gathered from the workshops will be utilized to help create a Master Plan that also meets equestrian needs and priorities.

The workshop will meet at Lancaster City Hall, 44933 N. Fern Ave in the EOC room from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.  For more information, please contact Elma Watson at (661) 723-6100.
