Marvin Crist

Marvin E. Crist, affectionately known as “Marv”, has been an unwavering pillar of the Lancaster community since he first joined the City Council in April 2010. By December 11, 2012, his dedication saw him rise to the role of Vice Mayor. Deeply rooted in Antelope Valley, Marv took his local education to heart, studying business at Antelope Valley College.

Transitioning from his brave days in firefighting to managing his own insurance brokerage, Marv's dedication to service, in all its forms, is evident. His heart for the community is showcased in roles like President of the Antelope Valley Sheriff Boosters and raising funds for Animal House. Whether it's the Fallen Heroes Ride or the Hank Hunter “After the Fair” Barbeque, Marv's involvement is a true testament to his love for the Valley.

Recognition has often come Marv's way. In 2005, Desert Christian Schools honored him as Volunteer of the Year. By 2007, he was lauded as Lancaster Sheriff’s Booster of the Year. And most recently in 2023 was selected for the Navigating Change award, which honors individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership through their community service.

In the realms of governance and philanthropy, Marv continues to lead with integrity. Marv leads many local governing boards. He presides over the Antelope Valley Transit Authority, serves as Chair Pro Tem for the County Sanitation District 14, Chair for the Antelope Valley Fair’s Joint Powers Authority Board of Directors, Chair of North County Transportation Coalition, and Chairs the board of the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District. His steadfast leadership influences many facets of the community.

The core of Marv's world is his Lancaster home, where he cherishes moments with his dear wife, Cindy, and their accomplished son, Ryan. In Marv Crist, the Antelope Valley has a true guardian, a leader whose love and dedication to his community are unparalleled.
