WALK-AUDIT

The walk audit is a hands-on evaluation of the walking conditions within a particular location in the community followed by design improvement recommendations. The workshop will focus on how physical design and walkability are at the core of creating and sustaining our communities. Participants will better understand the impact of transportation and land use patterns on a local community in terms of safety and quality of life, including the effect of physical design on local economies. Facilitated by Dan Burden and Ryan Snyder.

  • Dan Burden is an internationally-recognized authority on bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs. He will demonstrate the principles of planning livable communities which can benefit Lancaster's quality of life, health, environment, and economy.
  • Ryan Snyder has been a pioneer and advanced the field of pedestrian and bicycle planning. He is a Federal Highway Administration pedestrian design instructor, as well as a National Safe Routes to School and California Walkability Expert.
