The next LAN-CAP Landlord Training Class will be held on Thursday, June 9th from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This free class helps give landlords and property managers the tools and insight to deal with issues arising from rental properties, and covers facets of property management ranging from tenant screening to evictions, including gangs, narcotics, graffiti, Chronic Nuisance Abatement, Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Watch, and more.
The class is free. Owners and managers of residential rental property with 16 or more units (located within the City) are required by Lancaster Municipal Code Chapter 5.40 to obtain LAN-CAP certification; this class satisfies Phase One of that certification. Properties with 15 or fewer units are not required but are strongly encouraged to obtain certification. Landlords of property located outside the City are also encouraged to attend, as the information received during this class will benefit landlords of residential rental property in all jurisdictions (though local laws may differ somewhat).
Registration forms are available here (PDF, 28Kb), at the Finance Counter inside City Hall, or in the front lobby of the Lancaster Sheriff's Station. Completed forms must be received by Wednesday, June 8th at 5:00 p.m. Space is limited to 40 students; walk-up registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis beginning at 8:15 a.m. the day of the class.
The class will be held in the EOC at City Hall; parking is available in the north parking lot or on the street. Entrance to the EOC is through the north door of City Hall (next to Receiving; a staff person will be present to direct you). A one-hour lunch break will be provided.
