The Public Safety Office will be holding a general meeting for Area 2 Neighborhood Watch groups at Lancaster City Hall, Council Chambers, on Thursday, June 20th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. All block captains and co-captains in Area 2 are requested to attend. In addition all general group members, group members and captains from other Areas, and anyone from the general public who might be interested in starting or joining a Neighborhood Watch group or just wants a little more information is invited and encouraged to attend as well.
Current crime trends and statistics, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), CORE, updates from the City and from individual groups, and more will be discussed.
Area 2 encompasses all portions of the City of Lancaster east of Sierra Highway and north of Avenue J. The City is divided into four such areas, each of which is assigned a set of deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff's Station's CORE Team (Community Oriented Response & Enforcement). The CORE team also has a dedicated sergeant, and focuses primarily on quality-of-life issues such as graffiti, loitering, emerging crime patterns in a specific area, and more. As part of this goal the team interfaces with the Public Safety Office and works closely with the Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch programs.
