Featured in MOAH’s Main Gallery, the Museum is excited to exhibit the quintisessential furniture of Southern Californian Charles Hollis Jones. At the age of sixteen, Jones founded his firm, CHJ Designs, and quickly became known for his use of Lucite in furniture making – a medium primarily associated with the aerospace industry at that time. Credited with bringing acrylics into the realm of upscale design, Jones’ pieces would eventually make it into the homes of Hollywood socialites such as Lucille Ball and Frank Sinatra. Jones has received many awards for his craftsmanship and has been recognized by the Smithsonian Institute for his pioneering use of Lucite.
