Lancaster, CA. November 6, 2024 – MOAH:CEDAR and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) are pleased to host In Conversation with Nikolas Soren Goodich and Shana Nys Dambrot, an accompanying artist talk about Goodich’s exhibition, Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries. The event will take place at MOAH:CEDAR’s Cedar Hall on Saturday, November 16 from 2 to 3 p.m.
MOAH:CEDAR’s latest exhibition, Luminous Mysteries Human Symmetries, showcases Goodich’s ability to transform his trauma, presenting viewers an opportunity to authentically connect and examine the idea of self and the imagined “other,” through the harmony and incongruence of images. The exhibition is on view until November 24, 2024.
Nikolas Soren Goodich is a mixed-race Los Angeles native. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the late 1980s, School of the Art Institution of Chicago in the late 90s and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking at VCUarts in 2019. His artistic practice explores the paradox of asymmetry and symmetry through monoprint profile portraits, and large-scale installation, that allow for moments of quiet contemplation and close examination through its incandescent qualities.
Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in Downtown LA. A contributor to the Village Voice, Flaunt, Artillery, and other culture publications, she was the Arts Editor for the L.A. Weekly from 2018 to 2024. She studied Art History at Vassar College, curates and juries exhibitions, writes prolifically for exhibition catalogs and monographic publications, and speaks at galleries, schools, and cultural institutions nationally.
