Barbara Fahey
Barbara Fahey, Commissioner
Barbara Fahey is a Registered Nurse, employed by the State of California, at the William J. "Pete" Knight Veterans Home in Lancaster. She re-located to the Antelope Valley during 2017 after a 30+ year career at the Clinical Center, the hospital, and at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She has peer reviewed publications on topics such as healthcare worker infection risk to diseases such as HIV and TB. She has public service experience from serving on the Board of Supervisors of Elections in Gaithersburg, Maryland from 2003 through 2016. More recently, she has served the City of Lancaster as a Commissioner for the Healthy Community Commission from its inception in 2017 through 2019. She is enjoying her second career in the Antelope Valley and has a keen interest in Lancaster's healthy growth and development.
Ms. Fahey has a Master's in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She is a certified dialysis nurse, a certified infection control specialist, and has bachelor degrees in Nursing, from Georgetown University, and in Biology, from George Washington University.
