The City of Lancaster and WM are proud to partner on the following programs to keep Lancaster a clean, green community to live, work and play:

Bulky Item Program

City of Lancaster residents are encouraged to take advantage of the Bulky Item Curbside Pick Up program. A Bulky Item is defined as any large item that cannot be accommodated by a cart and typically averages at least one hundred pounds. This program allows each resident to place up to four bulky items curbside for pickup, four times each year. That’s a total of sixteen bulky item pickups, or an estimated three quarters of a ton of free disposal capacity, available to each resident every year. Electronic Landfill Vouchers

The Electronic Landfill Voucher program provides each City of Lancaster residence with active WM service with two no-cost electronic landfill vouchers, added to each account every July. Each voucher allows residents the convenience of disposing of up to one ton of residential waste, green waste, construction and demolition waste, bulky items, e-waste, and/or white goods at the Lancaster Landfill and Recycling Center. Electronic Waste Disposal

Lancaster residents have a variety of options available for the safe and proper disposal of E-Waste. Residents may conveniently and responsibly dispose of electronic waste at the Lancaster City Yard (615 W. Avenue H), the Lancaster Landfill and Recycling Center (600 E. Avenue F) or the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center (AVECC) in Palmdale at no additional cost. For details, visit home.wm.com/lancaster.

Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center (AVECC)

The Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center (AVECC), a joint partnership between the City of Lancaster, the County of Los Angeles and WM, is available to the residents of Lancaster to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at no cost. The AVECC is open the first and third Saturday of every month from 9 AM to 3 PM. This facility collects Household Hazardous Waste, such as batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and pesticides, Electronic Waste including televisions, computers, monitors, cell phones, and printers as well as sharps.

Below is a list of closure dates for the AVECC in 2024 (including those that fall on a holiday week):

Holiday Tree Collection

The Holiday Tree Collection Program is available to City of Lancaster residents during the first two weeks of January each year at no additional cost. During this period, trees (with no decorations, lights or stands) can be placed curbside next to your carts for collection. Trees can also be dropped off at the Lancaster Landfill and Recycling Center.

Fall Leaf Pick Up

Residents in the City of Lancaster have the option to placed additional bagged leaves out for collection throughout the fall. WM will pick up these additional bagged leaves free of charge for a ninety-day period designated by the City as “heavy leaf season”(typically beginning November 1).

Additional Recycling & Green Waste Carts

Each WM residential customer is entitled to an additional 64-gallon recycling cart and an additional 64-gallon green waste cart, free of charge upon request. To request an additional recycling or green waste cart, visit home.wm.com/lancaster


WM Smart TruckSM Program

The WM Smart TruckSM Program was developed by WM to assist with identifying overfilled or contaminated containers as well as safety and illegal dumping issues. Through this program, customers are provided notification of the issue identified along with an image or video. Customers exhibiting repeat issues with be provided options to modify their service accordingly.
