The Los Angeles County Assessor has an online map which shows the jurisdiction and location of all Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APNs) in the Los Angeles area. In the Antelope Valley region, Lancaster is shown in purple, Palmdale is shown in green, and unincorporated County areas are shown in yellow.

Zoning information is displayed in the Lancaster Data Parcel Viewer App.  Enter an address or APN in the search bar, or zoom in on a property to view zoning.

The Lancaster Municipal Code is available online.

Specific Plans, Master Plans, and Overlay Zones are available online.

Examples of projects requiring Planning approval include fences and walls, signage, building additions, new construction, new development, and conditionally permitted uses. If you aren't sure whether your project requires Planning approval, please contact Planning.

Planning reviews and approvals are now processed digitally. Applicants can submit a complete application package either via email to planning@cityoflancasterca.gov or in person at the public counter. When submitting in person, please bring digital files on a CD or flash drive.

ADUs do not require Planning approval and can proceed directly to Permitting. Note that owner-builder ADU applications require the property owner to reside onsite. Please contact Permitting for more information at 661-723-6144 or permits@cityoflancasterca.gov.

Review timelines are project specific. Over-the-counter reviews are typically processed within a couple of days, and projects requiring public hearings can take several months to process. Contact Planning for a more detailed project timeline.
