Job Application & Selection Process
Application Procedure:
All job openings require a City of Lancaster job application and resume be submitted online. Any other required documents will be indicated, if applicable, and must be submitted electronically as well.
No walk-in applications will be accepted.
Although we require a resume, your application is the primary tool we use to evaluate your job qualifications. Please complete the application in its entirety making sure you give detailed information on all relevant areas.
For your employment history section, make sure you list each position separately and begin with your most recent employer.
Supplemental questions, if any, must also be fully completed.
False statements or omission of material facts will result in rejection of your application or removal from further employment consideration.
Application Deadline:
All positions will have a closing date listed or will be listed as “open until filled.” Please pay close attention to the closing time on the job listing. Late submittals will not be accepted.
Selection Procedure:
Using the information submitted, only the most qualified applicants who are best suited for each position will be selected for an interview.
Should you be selected to interview, the process may include one or more of the following: written exam, technical knowledge assessment, writing skill assessment, and/or panel interviews. After the interviews are completed, Human Resources will notify you of your interview status, and, if applicable, next steps in the hiring process.
Upon notification, you must obtain, complete and submit a Conviction Review Form, if you have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor other than a traffic violation; OR you may be disqualified. Click here to download the Conviction Review Form. Do not present this form to the City until you are notified of the next step in the examination process.
Applicants who receive a job offer will be required to take a medical examination, which will include a drug screen. All new employees must verify identity and entitlement to work in the United States by providing documentation required by the Immigration & Control Act of 1986. Successful applicants may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
