Lancaster Reads! Program
Promoting reading and literacy in our community.
“The cultural success of Lancaster relies, to a great extent, on our access to material that will enrich and cultivate our minds. This program serves as an excellent means for residents throughout the City to enjoy cultural enrichment by exploring literature together,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris.
The City of Lancaster is proud to be a part of the growing nationwide read program which adopts the idea of a small book club and extends it throughout the city. The idea which originated in Seattle in 1998 has quickly spread across the United States and is currently present in at least 35 different cities. The Lancaster City Council approved the Lancaster Reads! Program on November 13, 2012.
