The City of Lancaster offers early-childhood education programs for preschool aged children. These programs help young minds prepare for their educational future by enhancing the basic skills necessary for successful learning.

El Dorado Park (EDP) Programs
Located at: 44501 5th Street East. The preschool building is located on the south east corner of the park.

Wee Folks
(3 yrs.) A positive first-school experience for young children, Wee Folks encourages social development through group activities and play. Class activities include crafts, stories, outdoor play activities and a snack time. Parents are required to pack their child a nutrious snack for them to enjoy during snack time. This program is for potty-trained children turning 3 by September 2 of the current school year. Wee Folks hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

EDP Preschool
(4 yrs.) This Kindergarten preparation class will develop a young students’ social skills through play, art, stories, songs, games and outdoor play activities. Parents are required to pack their child a nutrious snack for them to enjoy during snack time. Students will be encouraged to develop their independence, improve their self-help and sharing skills and learn to follow directions. A child must turn 4 by September 2 of the current school year to enroll in the EDP Preschool. Preschool hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wendesdays, and Fridays.

Jane Reynolds Park (JRP) Programs
Located at: 716 Oldfield Street. The preschool building is located on the north side of the park.

Mommy/Daddy & Me
(9 mos.-3 yrs.) A highly interactive experience with an emphasis on mindful parenting, attachment theory and a relational approach to optimizing your baby's development. Find new and supportive friendships with other parents. Have fun singing songs and playing activities designed to nurture attachment and learning. Mommy/Daddy & Me sessions are held Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday depending on the age of the child.

Play Brigade
(3 yrs.) An introductory-level preschool class where children can be themselves, have fun learning as well as develop key school-readiness skills such as following directions, showing respect to others and fine motor skills. The child must have turned 3 by September 2 of the current school year to be enrolled in Play Brigade. Play Brigade is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9-11:30 a.m.

JRP Preschool
(4 yrs.) Through purposefully-designed learning environments and enriched activities, preschoolers have joyful, appropriate and meaningful learning experiences that lead to success in school and life. The child must have turned 4 by September 2 of the current school year to be enrolled in the JRP Preschool JRP Preschool is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9 a.m. to Noon.
