Law Enforcement, Fire, Medical, Traffic, and Animals

The City of Lancaster contracts with Los Angeles County for most emergency services, including the Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, and Department of Animal Care & Control.  In addition, freeways and unincorporated areas are patrolled for traffic violations and vehicle collisions by the California Highway Patrol, and emergency ambulance services are provided by American Medical Response.

If you have an emergency, dial 911.

Safe Surrender Sites: California's Safely Surrendered Baby Law allows for an infant, 72 hours old or younger, to be surrendered at any hospital emergency room in California.  The law also gives the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors the authority to designate additional sites where an infant can be legally surrendered.  All County, Los Angeles City and almost all other non-voluntary municipal fire stations in the County are designated as Safe Surrender sites.  A parent surrendering their newborn does not have to give any information, including names, but will receive a coded bracelet to match one given to the surrendered child, so that should the parent change their mind during the 14-day "cooling off" period, they can return to the surrender site to be reunited with their child.

For more information, visit the Safely Surrendered Baby website.
