There is a common misconception that Tull is a heavy metal and progressive rock band. In truth, the group, led by flutist and front man Ian Anderson, has produced albums with distinctive sounds crossing and melding jazz, blues, folk, classical, Elizabethan, rock and electronic genres with “just a smidge of heavy metal.” Despite the variations, an unmistakable Jethro Tull sound emerges.
