Community Homes
Reviewed. Reimagined. Reintroduced. |
Located in residential neighborhoods throughout Lancaster, the City’s Community Homes empower residents and families by providing local access to programs, services, and resources. Introduced in 2008, the award-winning Homes, originally known as Wellness and Impact Homes, were received with great enthusiasm and community participation. Over the years, community needs and interests shifted. To ensure the Homes remained relevant and responsive to community needs, in 2019 the City reviewed each property and conducted discussions with community partners to reimagine the Homes. As a result, the Homes have been reintroduced as Community Homes with three specific categories: Neighborhood Impact, Neighborhood Health, and A Place In Time, with each category embodying a distinct purpose. Under the oversight of the City’s Parks, Arts, Recreation & Community Services (PARCS) Department, the Homes are operated through strategic community partnerships with local non-profits. These partnerships allow the Homes to offer resources and programming to help residents overcome barriers and challenges. |
